Rehearse your trades before they're real

Forex traders have had demo accounts for decades. Memecoin traders get one shot, with real money, on their first trade. Rehearse changes that: you start with 100 demo NEAR, trade live NEAR memecoins at real prices, and switch to your own wallet only when you're ready.

The expensive way to learn

Most people learn memecoin trading by losing money. You hear about a token in a group chat, buy in, and only then find out what slippage, a thin pool or a rug pull feels like.

The lessons are always the same. You buy too much in a pool with too little liquidity, and your own order moves the price against you. You panic-sell at the bottom. You chase a green candle an hour too late. None of these are hard to understand. They are hard to feel until it is your money on the line.

Every other high-risk skill has a practice mode. Pilots use simulators. Forex traders open demo accounts. Memecoin traders have had nothing between watching from the sidelines and putting real money in.

What Rehearse is

Rehearse is a memecoin trading app for NEAR with a demo account built in. It runs on Android, iOS and the web.

You sign up with your email or Google, pick a username, and get 100 demo NEAR. No wallet, no seed phrase, no deposit. From there you can browse every NEAR memecoin with live prices, open a token, read its chart and on-chain activity, and buy or sell with practice money.

One switch at the top of the app decides whether you are trading Demo or Real. Same tokens, same screens, same prices. The only difference is whose money it is.

Practice that behaves like the real thing

A demo account is only useful if it teaches the same lessons as real money. Most paper-trading tools fill every order at the price on the screen. Real markets don't work that way, especially for memecoins with small pools.

Rehearse simulates every demo trade against the token's actual liquidity pool on NEAR. If you put 50 demo NEAR into a pool that only holds a few hundred, you see the price impact before you confirm, and you receive fewer tokens, just as you would on-chain. Pool fees are taken on the way in and out.

Each token page also shows what is happening around a move, using only on-chain data:

  • How much more volume is trading this hour than usual
  • How many recent trades were buys versus sells
  • How deep the liquidity is, and how old the pool is
  • Plain-language risk signals, such as a market cap far larger than the liquidity behind it

When a practice trade goes well, you can share it as a PnL card. Demo trades are clearly marked as demo, and every card links to a page anyone can open to see the trade and the token's live price.

When you're ready, it's real

Flip the switch to Real and Rehearse creates a NEAR wallet on your phone, backed up with a standard 12-word recovery phrase. The phrase is stored in your phone's secure storage and never reaches our servers. We can't see it, and we can't move your funds.

Real trades go straight through Rhea Finance (formerly Ref Finance) pools on NEAR mainnet. Before you sign, you see the live quote, the price impact and the minimum you'll receive. Every trade links to the NEAR explorer, so you can check exactly what happened.

You can also claim your username as a readable account, like yourname.near, instead of a 64-character address.

Real trading lives in the phone app. The web version is demo-only on purpose: a wallet's keys are safer on your phone than in a browser.

Why NEAR, and why now

NEAR has a fast, cheap chain, readable account names, and an active memecoin community that trades in groups like NEAR Trenches. What it hasn't had is a mobile-first place to discover those tokens, understand them and trade them.

Today that takes a block explorer, a DEX site, a charting site and a Telegram group open side by side, usually on a laptop. Rehearse puts discovery, charts, on-chain context and trading into one phone app.

The NEAR memecoin market is also still early. That is exactly when a practice mode matters most: new traders are arriving, and the first few trades decide whether they stay.

Why it matters for new traders in Africa

Rehearse is built in Nigeria, by people who have watched friends, classmates and community members lose money they couldn't afford on their very first trades.

For a student or a young professional, a bad first trade isn't a lesson. It's rent, data or school fees. Many of them leave crypto for good after that, convinced it's a scam, when the real problem was learning with real money from day one.

A free demo account changes who gets to learn. You can practise on a phone, on live markets, for as long as you need, and only risk money once you understand what you're doing. We think that makes the whole ecosystem healthier: fewer people burned on day one, and more people who stick around long enough to get good.

What's next, and how to try it

We're building in public with the NEAR Trenches community. Next up:

  • Referral rewards: invite friends and both of you get bonus demo NEAR
  • Price alerts: a push notification when a token you watch moves
  • A Telegram bot: prices, charts and PnL cards right inside your group
  • Weekly demo competitions: a leaderboard for the best practice traders, with prizes

You can try Rehearse today. Open the web app, take your 100 demo NEAR, and make your first trade without risking anything. When you're ready for real trading, get the app.

Tell us what to build next, which tokens to list first, and what breaks. Early users shape what ships.

Rehearse shows market data, not investment advice. Memecoins are highly volatile, and you can lose everything you put in. Demo balances have no monetary value.
